Finding Home Again UK
An eight-session discussion group resource to provide a path for people and families settling into the UK.
Also available in a number of alternative translations.

Finding Home Again UK is a discussion group resource that can help resettled people process and heal in critical areas like:
- Transition
- Grief and loss
- Raising children cross-culturally.
Finding Home Again UK is for individuals and churches looking to support refugees, immigrants and other resettled people from their family, friends or in their community.
The discussion groups can be used with any ‘resettled’ person, but they’re most suited to refugee families with children.
It can be used as a way to build connections and new relationships with people in your community. It can also be used to deepen existing relationships and provide a bridge to spiritual conversations and the good news about Jesus.
The eight sessions cover different themes that are all relevant to people resettling in a new country. Session topics include: transition, grief, loss, trauma and raising children cross-culturally.
Each session offers interactive activities to help break the ice, spark discussion and aid in demonstrating the principles being covered in the sessions. It also suggests optional projects that participants can do at home with their families.
There are two separate versions of Finding Home Again UK available: a version containing Bible reflections and a version that emits the Bible reflections.
Both versions consist of a participants’ guide and a leaders’ guide. The leaders’ guides contain advice and suggestions for setting up and running a discussion group as well as additional notes throughout the sessions to help explain and introduce the different activities.
Finding Home Again UK can be used in groups or in a one-to-one setting, with people you already know or as a catalyst to help you meet and get to know new people.
It can be used by individuals, churches and even in partnership with NGOs or local councils.
If you’re planning to run sessions on your own or through a church, the version which includes Bible reflections could be the best version for you. If you’re partnering with an NGO or local council it may be more appropriate for you to use the version which doesn’t include Bible reflections.
‘Helping refugees to settle, integrate and belong in their new communities is a vitally important ministry for churches today. Finding Home Again UK is a fantastic resource to help with this!’ – Emily Shepherd, Welcome Churches
Quotes from discussion group participants:
‘My husband and I kept thinking: Why didn’t we have this 13 years ago? Such an approach and experience would have helped us tremendously! None of the [resettlement] agencies that we went through here were able or willing to deal with our trauma. For years we were trying to understand how to live with this pain, not knowing what it is… I feel validated in our struggle now; instead of feeling ridiculed and dismissed for our pain. Now I know it was valid and normal.’ – A participant from Eastern Europe
‘Learning English is important [to getting settled into my new home], but what this class offers is even more important for me.’ – A participant from China
